Perched

200

Perched on post of reason,
by river of desire,
hope's petals floated delicate;
uncut, the soul did sigh.

In helpless held imagining,
tiny love did rise,
that yearning for your touch;
forever now denied.

Reason then did raise itself,
umbrella of the mind,
protecting from insanity;
dreams then full declined.

  3. This slips so easily from the lips as if planted long ago and now its time has arrived. A tight weave of sound and imagery that satisfies the senses,

  4. This is a delight to read aloud.

  5. There's something reminiscent of Lewis Carroll in this poem. Even if I don't understand everything that's going on, I take great delight in the rhythm of the language. Well done!
