Fear

When fear sucks in hope,

 holds breath, refuses

 release, the world seems

 to shrink inwards, denying

 possibility, promising pain,

 gritting brittle teeth

 in optimism's face;

 then  I wait for angels

 to whisper thoughts of

 comfort,  and prod

 open lips of despair;

 allowing bright exhale.

  1. LOVE this! May we all have guardian angels sitting on our shoulder, who breathes hope into our ear :)

  3. Good physical description of fear. My angels live there these days.

  4. Fear does seem to shrink us inward. I like the need for angels to help with comfort.

  5. Fear imprisons us in dread. A rustle in the wind reminds us a fairy is near ... so it's said.

  7. Fear does engender paralysis, doesn't it?
    "denying
    possibility, promising pain,"
    Life offers pain, no matter what. Better that that comes with risk than that of inaction.

  8. I like the waiting for angels to breath hope. Very lovely line that is. Fear can paralyze but it can also propel. Good poem.

  9. Thanks to all for taking the time to read and comment. From my first consciousness I knew Fear and it has been my companion for all of my life, but, in more recent times, my teacher.
